Quick Ideas About Bluetooth

Most personal area networking connectivity employed in electronic games is provided by Bluetooth, but experts predict "volatile" growth for the technology over the next four years. Bluetooth will grow strongly in the personal gaming market, and new data from ABI Research forecasts Bluetooth shipments for non-portable consoles to peak at over 115 million units in 2009 before declining to 2007 levels in 2012. "The gaming console market has a product lifecycle rhythm that ebbs and flows," said senior ABI analyst Douglas McEuen.

A camera company has unveiled a portable printer for mobile phone images. Once famous for cameras that developed their own prints, Polaroid plans to market the printer in America later this year. The printers, which will also connect to digital cameras, require no ink, they use a thermal printing technology and special paper. The printers are slightly bigger than a deck of cards.Once connected to a phone or camera by Bluetooth wireless or the USB port, the printers need less than a minute to churn out 2-inch-by-3-inch prints pictures, which can be peeled off a backing and used as stickers. Sheets of paper for the device will cost about 40 cents (20p) each, less if bought in bulk.

WiMax Will Be the Next DSL for More Than 5 Billion People Worldwide; LTE Years Away from Meaningful Existence

Wed, 07 May 2008 00:00:00 EST
We believe there is a role for LTE as the natural evolution of GSM/HSPA-and probably also CDMA/EV-DO-but we believe it is years away. As such, it contrasts sharply with WiMax, which is being deployed today and for which spectrum has already been made available. WiMax already has an ecosystem which looks a lot like WiFi in terms of cost and diversity, whereas LTE simply is not even defined yet, much less available.

How Bluetooth Technology Will Help You

Are There Any Advantages To Bluetooth

By Lawrence Cheney

You might be wondering, what can you gain by using the bluetooth technology. What are the advantages and the disadvantages?

Bluetooth has a lot to offer with an increasingly difficult market place. Bluetooth helps to bring with it the promise of freedom from the cables and simplicity in networking that has yet to be matched by LAN (Local Area Network).

In the key marketplace, of wireless and handheld devices, the closest competitor to Bluetooth is infrared. Infrared holds many key features, although the line of sight it provides doesnt go through walls or through obstacles like that of the Bluetooth technology.

Unlike infrared, Bluetooth isnt a line of sight and it provides ranges of up to 100 meters. Bluetooth is also low power and low processing with an overhead protocol. What this means, is that its ideal for integration into small battery powered devices. To put it short, the applications with Bluetooth are virtually endless.

Disadvantages Bluetooth has several positive features and one would be extremely hard pressed to find downsides when given the current competition. The only real downsides are the data rate and security. Infrared can have data rates of up to 4 MBps, which provides very fast rates for data transfer, while Bluetooth only offers 1 MBps.

For this very reason, infrared has yet to be dispensed with completely and is considered by many to be the complimentary technology to that of Bluetooth. Infrared has inherent security due to its line of sight.

The greater range and radio frequency (RF) of Bluetooth make it much more open to interception and attack. For this reason, security is a very key aspect to the Bluetooth specification.

Although there are very few disadvantages, Bluetooth still remains the best for short range wireless technology. Those who have tried it love it, and they know for a fact that Bluetooth will be around for years to come.

Thoughts About Bluetooth

A man who allegedly tried to rob a Wendy's restaurant in Ohio was foiled by modern technology when his screams activated an employee's Bluetooth phone. Keith Allen Sturgill was yelling at the worker not to answer her ringing phone, police in Columbus, Ohio, said. Sturgill also had trouble with the safe, which employees couldn't open because it was on a timer, and with an automatically locking door that kept him outside once he had left the restaurant, The Columbus Dispatch reported. His yells about the ringing phone caused the Bluetooth to answer the call and an employee at a nearby bank, a friend of the Wendy's worker, realized something was wrong and called police.
